The Settings section of the app allows you to customize your visitor's redirections, it has three main options:

The first option is "top banner", which is a banner at the top of the page showing your visitor their current location and asking them if they would like to be redirected.

The second option is a popup box, that would show on the center of the visitor's screen, with almost the same features as the top banner.

The third option is "Instant redirect", which redirects the visitor automatically without any options.

How to test your settings

Usually after setting a redirection, you would want to test an see if it works as it should, and this article is here to help show you how to test your redirection settings and get accurate results. For testing you would need two tools: a VPN and a browser with incognito mode.

| Using incognito mode works best as it does not store cookies or browsing history, or otherwise, you would need to clear your browser's cache with every test.

| What works best, is a VPN that has a browser extension, for faster switching between countries.

First step: install the VPN extension on your browser, make sure to allow it into incognito mode.

second step: choose the country that you want to test your store from, and hit connect. third step: open the browser incognito window and browse to your store.

| You would need to open a new incognito window every time you switch countries or do a change to the redirect that you are testing.

||| VPNs are legal in most countries. However, some countries impose fines or imprisonment for anyone caught using a VPN. We hold no responsibility if using a VPN is considered illegal in your country.

How to install Geo:Pro

The first step is to go to your Shopify store admin panel and used the search bar at the top to search for the app named Geo:Pro, it should look like this

once you have located the app, click on the icon and it would take you to the app page where you would see an install button

after pressing the install button, the app would take you to your store admin panel to confirm that you want to install that app and which information the app needs access to

click on install app and the app would take you back to the admin panel where the app shows on your left side bar

to complete the install, you need to go to installation on the side bar, then choose the current theme that your store uses, it should look like this

At this point the app is installed on your store, but needs to be activated on your theme, you would need to click on Theme settings to activate the app, it would take you to the theme settings page, on the left side you should see a slider that you need to make sure is active and press Save at the top of the page

How to avoid being redirected

while working on your website, you may have a collaborator that is not local to your geolocation, and you would want them to access the website the same way you do and avoid being redirected, first thing that comes to mind is using a VPN but that would be extra cost and may not be available for certain locations, but no worries as we have two more options for you:

You may exclude an IP address directly from the redirection rule. It can be done by editing your existing redirect rule and specifying the required IP address in the Exclude Countries or IP Address section
You may add the #redirectoff parameter at the end of the website URL, so the redirection won't work in this case. But please note that if you decide to check the work of the app, you'll need to clear your browser cache and cookies and use an ordinary link without #redirectoff at the end.

How redirects work

Once you are done installing the app, it is time to create your first redirect, go to the redirects tab on the left side menu in Admin:

You would need to press the green button saying (Add Redirect), the you will be taken to this page:

as you see here, the app has two redirecting options: Domain Redirect, and Strict Redirect.

The Domain Redirect option will redirect customers from a page on one website to the same page on another website. which means that the app will just replace the domain name of one store and will open the same page on the other one. to use this option the two stores should have exactly the same structure.

As for the Strict Redirect option, a customer will be redirected directly to the homepage of another store from any page.

On the left side you see two sections, a green one and a red one:

the green one is of the list of countries or IPs that the redirects would apply to, the red one is for the list of countries or IPs that the redirects would be exclud

How Markets Work

The markets section is for redirecting your visitors within your site based on their geo location to sections which you have customized in their language and currency, for example:

You can use the (Add Country) button to add countries to each market, also you can activate the option at the bottom to redirect visitors from other countries to a specific market.
